OVER 18?: Yes indeed!
CURRENT CHARACTER: N/A.
CHARACTER

NAME: Sayaka Maizono.
CANON: Dangan Ronpa.
CANON POINT: The morning of the motive announcement, but before it. (so essentially, pre-murder attempt)
AGE: 17; this is pure headcanon, admittedly, though there's a two year gap in her memories. But she's high school aged at the very least.
SPECIES: Human.
INFORMATION: wiki link | let's play link

I tend to take most of her characterization from the english translation of the game, but I prefer not to use the first name basis/nicknames that the game goes with for how she refers to others. I prefer using the honorifics present in this LP. (though if necessary i will play straight to the english translation, i'm just not a fan of that particular aspect lmao)

CHARACTER PITCH: Sayaka is a perfect and plucky girl next door type, at least on the surface; as an idol, she's both manufactured to be this and has cultivated that image for herself for most of her life. She's sweet, she's delightful, she always knows the right thing to say, and she's here to brighten ones day with her winning smile and good attitude.

She's also the very first person to kill in a game that intends to force you to murder your fellows in order to escape the game itself.

To put it in the bluntest of terms; Sayaka Maizono is a hot mess of a girl. Analytical to a fault to keep an eye on people who will be useful to her and who might hurt her, and yet essentially raised by TV because of a workaholic father, Sayaka craves the love and approval of everyone around her and deeply fears falling into obscurity for even a moment because she knows the world she's cultivated is a dog eat dog world. That's not to say any of her image isn't genuine; they all fit into pieces together to make one whole person. It's just that Sayaka is a hot mess of an individual who's worn a mask for so long that she's all but forgotten what it's like to be human.

POWERS: Well I can make this extremely easy on you: Sayaka's only real abilities are her talents as an idol, which basically just means that she sings and dances really well. She's got all of the physical ability of a twig and despite her teasing about mind reading powers, it really is only her good intuitions and not actual powers.
QUESTIONNAIRE

What is the worst or most malicious thing your character has ever done? How do they feel about it now? Was this sort of action typical of them?

Canonically, it's the fact that she attempts to murder Leon Kuwata and frame her friend and sole ally, Makoto Naegi, for it after she sees her motive announcement that her friends are in trouble and she's going to be forgotten. She plans it out almost methodically; to pretend to be in danger so that Naegi will swap rooms with her, lure Leon into said room, murder him there, and proceed to frame her friend for murder so that she'll get out of this game. (Without realizing the bigger implications of what that'll do to everyone else, though the game is ambiguous about that and she never finds out because she proceeds to die.)

Headcanonically, it's the fact that she's been perfectly willing to sabotage the careers of other idols in order to make her way in the world; idols are on a very, very thin tightrope of what they can and cannot do, and if something comes out that makes an idol seem impure or unmarketable, they'll drop them like a hot potato and forget that they ever existed.

In the case of the former, she does feel some mild guilt about her actions; that she proceeded to make a mess of things and that she's going to die, though she is motivated by spite against Leon himself to try and clear Naegi's game, so her feelings are...complicated, there. For anything else, she feels as if that's what she's had to do, and while she does feel guilt for what she's done, she's accepted it as an inevitability. Such actions are typical of her, though in the former case, not quite to this extent. It's really only under duress that murder becomes an option.

What is the most altruistic or selfless thing your character has ever done? How do they feel about it now? Was this sort of action typical of them?

Absolutely her attempt at absolving Naegi of her murder by leaving incriminating evidence towards Leon behind before her death. It's something she did at least partially out of spite for failing to kill Leon, but it's at the same time the sort of thing that is typical of her with or without the mask she's placed firmly on her. Deep down, she is a kind person; a very fucked up sort of kind person who can murder for the sake of her ambitions and dreams, but one that can make genuine friends that she wants to do good by, even in her final moments. Her feelings on the situation aren't really known, but she doesn't regret using the last of her strength to help him in the end.

What do they desire above all else? How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfill those desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross?

The love and adoration of the masses, love never-ending and all of the love she never got from her father. She essentially wants a parasocial relationship that means something. She essentially has over one hundred million fans all around the world, and yet due to her status and the distance that idols have to keep in general, she's somehow even lonelier than she ever was before. Sayaka is willing to go very far to achieve her goals; she's willing to sabotage others, she's willing to manipulate others, and in the context of the killing game, she's ultimately willing to act in order to ensure her freedom and that her friends are okay.

The only line she seems unwilling to cross is letting someone who doesn't deserve it take the fall for her actions, though it's hard to tell if that's simply out of a sense of her having limits or just wanting to fuck over Leon from beyond the grave, in terms of her wanting to make sure that Naegi doesn't suffer for her death. It's kind of both, in the end.
GAME DETAILS

LEGACY: Lover; Sayaka's whole world revolves around relying on her friends as a crutch, and in certain circumstances, using them to her advantage. Her bonds with people mean pretty much everything to her, in a way, and this legacy fits her practically to a T because she demonstrates the strength--and the harm, in relying on these bonds.
INTRODUCTORY SECT: Kenoma; Sayaka is a girl who is willing to use people to her advantage and definitely aligns much better in a darker sort of sect, despite everything about her appearance screaming Pleroma. She's manipulative enough to see that serving the Regent will keep her safer than the uncertainty of helping the Pleroma, and she's more than willing to do terrible things in order to ensure her place in the world.
SUITABILITY: I want to play Sayaka in this game because this seems like an incredible way to explore some of the darker aspects of her character; I've had the fortune of being able to give her multiple redemption arcs in murdergames, and this time I just want to try and see if I can make her worse! I'm honestly down for just seeing where Sayaka goes in terms of loyalty, but my main plan is for her to start uncertain and over time, absolutely become enthralled by the Kenoma and a deep desire to see a world that she believes has failed her burn, maybe. Sort of akin to a super high school level despair arc, in a way.
