Name: Sayaka Maizono
Age: Believes she's 17 at her current canonpoint; is actually 19.
Canon: Dangan Ronpa.
History: One wiki link, coming right up! (Well, two actually. This one's for Sayaka specifically though.)
Canon Point: First canon point: Before waking up in Hope's Peak and getting introduced to everyone. Second: Post-death.
Memories: - Waking up and introducing herself to the other students.
- Partnering up with Naegi and finding a weapon for self defense with him.
- Seeing the DVD of Monobear having messed with her friends, and Naegi comforting her afterwards.
- Switching rooms with Naegi to put her plan to kill Leon into motion.
- Attempting to murder Leon, only to be killed herself.
Material Regains: A CD copy of Wish Ensemble (renewable), A frilly idol dress, a motivational DVD by Monobear (showing her idol friends passed out/dead on stage), a pink bow (the same one in the idol outfit), and white boots (also the same as in the idol outfit)
Basic alignment: Lawful Selfish is probably the best way to describe Sayaka's morality; in general, Sayaka is a very good person and strives to be a shining example of what people should be. But if her dream is threatened, she will do anything and everything to ensure that her place in the world isn't threatened.
Strengths and Weaknesses: + Cheerful. If there's one thing Sayaka has in spades, it's absolute cheer. She strives to always keep a smile on her face and the faces of those around her. Putting people at ease seems to be something she's very good at, and she doesn't like to see others in a dismal state. So Sayaka stays cheerful, in the hopes that her cheer will be infectious enough to give others the strength they need to face whatever comes ahead. It's why she became an idol, after all; to give people strength, even if it was through a TV screen.
+ Kind. Whatever Sayaka does, she does it with complete and utter politeness. Sayaka always works to make herself appear less threatening to those around her, in an effort to make people feel at ease. Sayaka composes herself with complete politeness, especially to those who seem to be the leader. Sure, she's still a high schooler, and she's no marchioness for sure; she's still got some casual speech patterns she can't quite break. But Sayaka at least knows how to use her wording to her advantage. If she's to be an example for those younger to her, she can't compose herself any less than like those she'd seen on TV when she was young.
+ Observant. If there's one thing Sayaka is fairly good at, it's observing. Be it the atmosphere, other people, or even trends, Sayaka always has her eyes out for anything that could harm her. It plays with her intuitions fairly well, and it helps Sayaka recognize patterns--be it patterns in trends, in demeanor, and even in people themselves. She can be a little nosy as a result (though she keeps herself politely nosy), but she means well enough. She can certainly keep an eye on things and notice something unusual; in Hope's Peak, she was the first one to notice that the headmaster, Monobear, restocked the food for them daily.
+ Intuitive. Really, it's a wonder that Sayaka can't actually read minds--she can sure read the atmosphere of a person well enough and make some educated guesses. She learned to read people and what their thoughts might be when she got into the Idol business; it was practically a requirement, to ensure that she didn't screw up. She's seen many people throughout her short life, and it was her job and her's alone in the end to make sure she always said the right thing at the right time. She's learned to understand what people might be thinking, even if it's a little absurd.
+ Warm-hearted. At her core, Sayaka Maizono is a good person. She's like a kind friend who'd be willing to sit beside you while you cry and assure you that everything will be okay in the end. Sayaka is a genuinely caring person due to her upbringing and her aspirations; she hates to see people suffering around her. Her dream was literally to become a shining light for those who had nothing left to turn to, and it wasn't just some ploy for fame; she did it because it was something she genuinely believes. She's got a heart of gold when it comes down to it, and she'll be damned if it doesn't see some form of use in helping others.
+/- Determined. No matter what happens in life, Sayaka faces it with a certain level of determination that she feels is expected of her. It's not completely bombastic, explosive determination; it's a quiet determination that builds a small fire within her, and allows her to power through the tasks in front of her. It works in good ways, as she can easily remind herself just what she's going on for--her friends, her family, and her dream. ...It also works in bad ways, for the same reasons listened above. It plays easily into her positive and negative aspects; a determination to keep everyone calm and unified is the same determination that could be used to plot a murder against someone. It all plays out the same, in her mind; if her precious things are in danger and one option looks better than the other, she won't hesitate.
+/- Puts on a good front. No matter what happens, Sayaka will always pull out her best smile and insist on everything being fine. She learned early on in her business that nobody wants to see an idol cry--all it does is make them look ugly, and make them look pitiful. It's not a good look for anyone, and Sayaka doesn't like the idea of someone seeing her like that. She's learned that the best way to deal with her problems is to smile, nod, and say nothing is wrong. On the surface, at least, this makes her seem like a very composed individual; one who won't break under pressure. ...On the negative side, it also tends to hide Sayaka's less than stellar traits, and no one would be able to know she had a problem until far too late into the matter. She doesn't really know healthy coping habits, basically.
+/- Sheltered. It's not to say that Sayaka learned absolutely everything from TV, but...there's quite a bit that Sayaka leeched from it that's stuck with her and her perception of the world. She's mature enough to know that things like fairy tales and magic don't exist, but there's no denying that she's learned quite a bit of how to act from anime. She's like a determined, cheerful female lead, meant to help guide the protagonist toward their goal. And...probably get inevitably fridged for maximum manpain. She knows how to act, basically, but she doesn't exactly have many life experiences of her own to properly shape her personality.
+/- Short term thinker. Sayaka has always tended to think in the 'now' rather than think for the long term. Short term plans tend to come much easier for her, and if they provide a solution in that very second, then that's enough incentive to put the plan into action! ...On the other end of the spectrum, though, if she's already gone through with a short term plan and it falls through, it's not going to be pretty. Sayaka doesn't have the foresight to think so far in advance, even in her own life; the 'and then what?' doesn't even come to her until the plan has already succeeded or failed.
- Panicky. Sayaka's like a trapped bird if one observes her long enough. Constantly on the lookout, constantly watching people and things, just constantly seeming to wait for something--or someone--that tries to come along and hurt her dream, her friends, or anything precious to her. Her reaction when that does happen doesn't exactly help the comparison--she's liable to freaking out, screaming, and running off and attempting to do something stupid before you can even say 'HOLD'. Sayaka does not react to stress well at all, especially when it hits close to home. It's something she's inclined to believe won't happen to her, and then it does. And then two people are dead and nothing was accomplished. Sayaka is incapable of dealing with stress that goes after her dream, short of violent and explosive reactions, if she's left alone.
- Unfettered. It's not something that comes out in usual conversation, but if something Sayaka holds dear is threatened, there is literally nothing that will get in her way to stop her. She won't hesitate to do terrible things in order to keep her place in the world--she's done it before, and she's more than willing to do it again. It's what she feels she has to do in order to stay at the top and keep her dream alive. She doesn't exactly have much left other than her dream, after all, and what she has to go back to should she fall from grace is not nearly enough to make her reconsider. She sure as hell won't show it on the surface, but it's best to steer clear of her in those moments. She won't allow herself to go down, but she'll sure as hell try to take someone else with her.
- Hollow. If you look past Sayaka's accomplishments, dream, and her warm personality, it's...pretty obvious that there actually isn't much else to Sayaka. She was shut in so far that other than her school life, all she had was the TV to teach her about the world. She's like a fast food french fry; still good, but ultimately artificial and unfulfilling. That's certainly what Sayaka has felt her life was like up until she became an idol, but she never got to experience a lot even with her stardom, which is something she clings to for dear life. She hasn't really had much of a life to live due to being so high up on a pedestal that she couldn't even see the ground if she wanted to.
- Desperate. Sayaka is so desperate to keep the status quo that she would be willing to do anything to keep it the way it is. Desperation can press her to do many, many things, and with her generally unfettered nature when her dream is put into question, it won't be pretty. Of course, it can and will cause her to be incredibly careless; if at first she doesn't succeed, then she doesn't know what to do. She'd be panicking too much to properly do anything but find a place to hide and hope it blows over. In a game like this, especially if she's cornered, she definitely wouldn't take it well and would try to throw out any justification to prove she didn't do anything.
- Manipulative. Her warmth, kindness, and politeness don't usually have ulterior motives. But, needless to say, Sayaka is more than willing to use those traits to her advantage to get people on her side. She'd be more than willing to use her nature as a reason she couldn't do something so terrible, that innocent little Sayaka couldn't possibly hurt anyone. She's willing to play herself like this to put herself far beyond any form of suspicion. If she believes it'll help her, even if it's just in that moment, she'll do it without hesitation and without...well, with some remorse, but not remorse that she'll show. Whatever relationship she had with the person she manipulated won't matter if it's her against them.
Skills and Abilities: - Singing! Sayaka's got a super cute voice, and she puts it to good use as the frontgirl of her idol group.
- Dancing! As an idol, she's definitely gotta keep up with the routines. Sayaka definitely doesn't disappoint in that category, not one bit.
- Cooking! Sayaka really enjoys cooking despite being an idol, and while she's not winning any tri-state awards, she can make things that are passable enough.
Motives: - Threatening Sayaka's idol group. Sayaka puts a lot of emphasis on how much her dream means to her, and she is absolutely willing to do terrible things for it. It just so happens that murder is one of these terrible things she's willing to do. Whatever it takes to keep her place in the world, she'll do it, sanity be damned.
- Threatening to 'erase' Sayaka. ...Needless to say, this goes hand in hand with the above but is far more personal to her. She worked very hard to be noticed and adored, and she doesn't want that taken away.
- Threatening her father. She may not have had the best relationship with him, and even she can acknowledge that. But the man still did his best to provide for them both, and she doesn't want to see him hurt.

Would you prefer that your character be a victim, a culprit, or do you have no preference? Victim, please!
Would you like to volunteer to have your character killed off? I VOLUNTEER AS TRIBUTE.
Would you be willing to have your character be a mole/killswitch for the Adjudicator? If needed. Sayaka would be easy enough to convince to being either role, honestly.
